The Board sits in the Vale of York and lies between the city of York and the Rivers Ouse and Derwent.
Originally three independent Drainage Boards going back to October 1854, the names - Ouse & Derwent, West Derwent and Cliffe IDBs are retained within the Electoral Districts.
Although the Board has six Sites of Scientific Interest within its boundaries.
The Ouse & Derwent IDB is a member of the Association of Drainage Authorities.
